OpenText™ Fax (previously RightFax™) remains the market-leading enterprise fax server coming into 2025. It offers secure, scalable digital faxing to and from virtually all software, including EMR/EHR applications, niche line-of-business systems, standard back-office software, and even MFP/MFD fleets.
Newly rebranded for this year, the former RightFax is a high priority for OpenText and continues to set the standard for in compliance-heavy industries like healthcare and finance.
The rebrand better aligns RightFax with the rest of OpenText’s enterprise solutions portfolio. It does not affect the product’s availability, roadmap, or existing installations.
The latest version, OpenText Fax 23.4, was released in mid-2024. It introduced multi-tenant on-prem hosting, expanded Cerner integrations, and even introduced OCR handwriting recognition.
Details on the next RightFax update have not been made public, but we anticipate an update later in 2025.
OpenText Fax helps healthcare providers and insurers fully digitize communication and more easily comply with HIPAA.
A desktop fax client (and optional Outlook integration) makes fax as easy as email but maintains end-to-end encryption and a comprehensive audit log.
OpenText has prioritized native integrations with virtually all major EHR systems, not to mention dozens of specialty EHRs, practice management applications, and so forth.
If you use an application like:
…then you have access to a purpose-built RightFax connector, refined over decades of real-world use, with rock-solid vendor support.
Even if you need to maintain a fleet of multifunction printers (MFPs), you don’t need to rely on analog faxing with its costly consumables and dedicated lines.
OpenText Fax integrates with essentially every modern MFP/MFD from major vendors like Canon, HP, and Ricoh. Numerous other vendors and even discontinued models are also supported. One way or another—between native connectors, third-party workflow tools, and/or universal SMTP connectors—there’s a RightFax integration option for your MFP fleet.
Analog faxing is inherently secure, but it’s prone to privacy issues before and after transmission. Where are papers stored? How do we verify the recipient? Can we know who (or what system) viewed the message?
OpenText Fax centralizes, encrypts, and tracks access to each fax transmission. No matter how your software/devices are connected to the server, it subjects every document to granular security policies and builds a HIPAA-friendly audit trail every step of the way.
OpenText Fax offers flexible deployment options across any combination of cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
Unsurprisingly, we’ve observed an overwhelming trend toward IP telephony and at least some element of cloud resources. Even so, OpenText remains committed to support “off-cloud” infrastructure for those who require or prefer it.
Many clients would rather avoid fax infrastructure management altogether. Our response is Private Fax Cloud®, a fully managed RightFax solution tailored to healthcare organizations.
It comprises the proven OpenText Fax server preconfigured with best practices for healthcare firms, all hosted on private cloud resources for absolute control over your data. Clients can go live in minimal time and with virtually no ongoing IT burden, while our expert engineers handle all support and maintenance.
As with most enterprise software, configuration determines success. Everything from reliability to usability to compliance depends on factors within a customer’s control.
