OpenText Fax CE 24.4 builds on last year’s release with expanded platform support, stronger administrative tools, and a range of usability improvements. This is the first release under the new OpenText Fax brand, reflecting the rebranding of RightFax.

Key branding update

RightFax is now marketed as OpenText Fax. While some references to “RightFax” may remain in the interface and documentation, product naming is aligned under the OpenText Fax portfolio. RightFax Connect is now OpenText Fax Cloud Connect.

New platform support

OpenText Fax now supports Windows Server 2025, alongside Windows Server 2022 and 2019. SQL Server 2019 and 2022 editions are also supported, with .NET 4.8 and IIS 10 required.

Simplified installation

The typical client installation no longer requires Microsoft Outlook, reducing dependencies for deployment. The Print-to-Fax Web application can be installed by end users or pushed out centrally, giving IT teams greater flexibility.

Database & routing improvements

Administrators gain more control with new SQL connection options, including driver selection and multi-subnet failover. Fax routing is also more flexible, with support for multiple inbound methods per user and enhanced SIP routing configuration.

Tenant hosting & EMR integration

Multi-tenant hosting now extends to Shared Services environments, while healthcare organizations benefit from direct Meditech EMR integration to send patient documents from within the application.

User-focused enhancements

The MFP App now works in Managed Services environments without a VPN, while allowing users to view and print recently received faxes. FaxUtil and FaxUtil Web improvements include a confirmation page for failed faxes, longer inactivity timeouts, expanded cover sheet fields, and in-browser printing.

Administrative and reporting updates

Administrators will see faster troubleshooting and configuration with new hyperlinks in Web Admin and EFM, easier dialing rule management, and an FCL Dashboard for job analysis. Reporting options now allow usage summaries by server, group, or user, plus the ability to include custom reports. Worker Host, Integration Modules, and administrative utilities also gain efficiency and new export/import capabilities.

Cloud and security enhancements

OpenText Fax Cloud Connect now supports NTLM proxy authentication and adds new connection options, including Australia and a PCI-compliant U.S. connection. Authentication is more flexible with editable OpenID Connect providers and clearer visibility in user settings.
