OpenText Fax (formerly RightFax) pricing can look different for two organizations with similar fax volume and user bases. Cloud strategy, workflow requirements, and integrations can drive cost and ROI significantly up or down.
Below, we’ll expand upon some key factors from our previous RightFax pricing guide.

An OpenText solution has two key components: fax software and telephony. Each can run on-prem or in the cloud (i.e., SaaS/PaaS).
Our managed Private Fax Cloud® is also an option for clients that need on-prem levels of control, but prefer simpler, SaaS-like pricing without IT overhead.
Software licensing is the main factor. It depends primarily on integration and workflow requirements. Fax volume also plays a role, especially with on-prem telephony.
Most features are modular and can be installed at any time, but they’re generally more cost-effective (and less disruptive) as part of the initial deployment.
OpenText Fax has native integrations with most EHR/EMR vendors, major CRMs and ERPs, communication tools like Outlook and Teams, and all network-enabled MFPs.
These are mostly sold as add-on connectors, although some of the most widely used connectors are bundled in higher OpenText Fax license tiers.
All OpenText Fax versions and deployment models support a REST API. Several more APIs and SDKs are available for on-prem users, but may require additional licensing:
Together, these support integration and automation between OpenText Fax and virtually any legacy application.
Keep in mind that native connectors already cover dozens of use cases without custom code. Your solution architect will help you find the most direct and maintainable option.
The content of a fax usually determines how it’s handled. Data capture/extract technology complements OpenText Fax by automating the reading, routing, and processing of a wide range of incoming documents. OpenText and/or third-party technology can deliver near-total automation in many cases.
Pricing depends on factors like fax volume, document layouts, format consistency, validation procedures, and related workflow steps. Labor savings and efficiency improvements often yield a positive ROI in a matter of months.
OpenText Fax supports high-availability architecture for critical fax environments, on top of standard redundancy and backup strategies.
HA and DR pricing reflect the deployment model. On-prem clients will need to purchase additional fax server infrastructure and licensing in addition to redundant telephony. Hybrid clients can take advantage of their cloud telephony provider’s built-in redundancy. SaaS customers can’t directly control backup or failover, but instead look to the SLA specified in their contract.
We’ve only described a handful of pricing factors among dozens. There are also more fundamental questions of which architecture and integrations are optimal for your unique situation. This not only impacts pricing but determines the ROI you can expect.
